Azumah Nelson Sports Complex is a complete mess, go and fix it – Coach Chris Nimley tells Bawumia

Coach Chris Nimley has bemoaned the deplorable state of the Azuma Nelson Sports Complex.

The former Kaneshie Sports Complex was renamed after Ghana’s boxing legend and Africa’s “Greatest of All Time” in the boxing arena, Azumah Nelson.

The multi-purpose stadium was constructed to meet Ghana’s sporting needs, but the facility, according to renowned Ghanaian coach Christopher Nimley, has been left at the mercy of nature.

Joining Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” panel discussion on Tuesday morning, Coach Nimley called the government’s attention to the facility and reminded the nation of the unrivalled legacy of Azuma Nelson.

He wondered why the Sports Complex could be left to rot when it would benefit the nation by churning out great boxers to continue the feat of the living legend, Azumah Nelson.

“Go to the Azumah Nelson Complex and fix the mess there. That alone can be turned into a boxing hub…You can choose to abandon all the other resource centers. Don’t do it though, but you can decide to abandon all the other resource centers you’ve built, but not the Azumah Nelson Sports Complex,” he charged the government.

“Go and check the condition of the Azuma Nelson Sports Complex and make sure that the facility is brought to standard. I say just use it as a hub for boxing. Make that place a boxing hub to unearth boxing talents and develop them; that gives Ghana a minimum of at least three medals in the next Olympic games in America,” Chris Nimley concluded.
