AUDIO: Kwaku Duah’s last interview before he became Otumfuo Osei Tutu II in 1999

On April 26, 1999, Nana Barima Kwaku Duah transitioned into Otumfuo Osei Tutu II after taking the oath of office to complete processes for his role as Asantehene.

At the age of 73, Osei Tutu II on April 26, 2024 marked 25 years as occupant of the Golden Stool.

Amidst the yearlong observation of Otumfuo’s Silver Jubilee Anniversary, a tape of an interview granted by then Nana Kwaku Duah on the eve of his coronation has surfaced.

Conducted by the veteran Kwaku Sakyi Addo, the interview had a young Kwaku Duah answer various questions including his journey to becoming Asantehene.

Kwaku Duah responded to questions such as the politics of the journey, the grooming process, his private life including his stint of working in the United Kingdom as well as his relationship with his predecessor Otumfuo Opoku Ware II.
