Audio: Cocoa farmer shoots himself dead

A 59-year-old farmer, Kwabena Acquah has reportedly shot himself to death at Kwabena Kyere in the Agona East District of the Central Region.

In an interview with Adom news, Assembly member for Mankrong Akwakwa electoral area, Seth Arhin who confirmed the incident said the deceased was mentally unstable.

“I had a call around 11:30 to 12:00pm to be told what has happened. So when I got there, I realized the man had shot himself in the neck. He is somebody I know very well for over 10 years and knew he was mentally unstable but I can’t attribute his death to that because he has for some time now been going about his activities normally till today,” he stated.

 

Mr. Arhin however added they were left stranded with the body at the Agona Swedru government Hospital because of the strike by the mortuary workers.

The police have also begun investigations into the cause of death.
