Audio: Berekum VRA boss almost lynched by residents over dumsor

The Managing Director of the Volta River Authority (VRA) at Berekum in the Brong Ahafo region, Eric Ofori is thanking his stars for being alive.

But for the intervention of the police, he would have been lynched by angry residents over the incessant power outages known in local parlance as dumsor.

The residents on Monday demonstrated against VRA and Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) over rampant power outages in the area.

Speaking on Adom News, the residents expressed their displeasure at the situation and called on the government to intervene.

“We are very upset at the rate at which the power outage is affecting our jobs and the flow of water in our communities.

“The light goes off four times in a week, I am a carpenter and it’s slowing down my business,  my wife just gave birth and there is no water for domestic needs,”  some residents lamented.

Chief of the community, Nana Boakye Agyei II who was part of the demonstration condemned VRA and described their action as disrespectful to the people of the town

He called on management of VRA and GRIDCo to as a matter of urgency resolve the matter or face their wrath.
