Attorney General withdraws charges against former BoG deputy governor, Johnson Asiama

The Attorney General, Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, has officially dropped all the charges against former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Johnson Asiama, in the case concerning his alleged involvement in the collapse of UniBank and UT Bank.

The former deputy governor was charged along with several others on charges including fraudulent breach of trust, money laundering, conspiracy to commit crime, and violations of the Bank of Ghana (BoG) Act since 2020.

The government has also dropped all criminal charges against the former National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo; and the party’s Communications Officer, Anthony Kwaku Boahen.

The legal battle, which began in December 2019, has officially come to an end.
