Driver of the Asunafo South chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is battling for his life after he was attacked on Tuesday night by thugs suspected to be loyalists of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Wofa Yaw sustained various degrees of injuries after he was chased and assaulted with clubs and other weapons by the armed men on motorbikes in Kukuom, the capital of Asunafo South in the Ahafo Region.

Myxyzonline.com can confirm that he has been admitted at a hospital in the area following the bloody attack.

Confirming the attack to XYZ News, the NDC Organiser in the region, Charles Asiedu said the incident occurred about 9PM after the driver had driven the party chairman to his home.

“It is believed he was ambushed and chased till they attacked him with their weapons,” he disclosed.

It is not clear why Wofa Yaw was assaulted, but XYZ News has reliably been informed the bloody attack was carried out to put fear in the NDC members as the revision of the voter’s register which is ongoing across the country continues.

XYZ News has learned some known NPP hooligans in Kukuom has vowed to frighten some teenagers believed to be sympathisers of the NDC and prevent them from registering as first time eligible voters.

Asiedu confirmed about 20 teenagers were chased out of the Electoral Commission’s District office at Kukuom on Tuesday afternoon, but could not confirm whether it is linked to the assault case involving their party man except to say it could be part of a scheme to discourage NDC sympathisers from taking part in the limited voters registration exercise.

The matter is yet to be reported to the Kukuom Police for investigations to commend.
