Asiedu Nketiah calls for renaming of Kotoka International Airport

He believes that Major General Emmanuel Kwasi Kotoka does not deserve to have the country’s airport named after him, as he played no role in its construction.

Asiedu Nketiah asserts that the name has remained unchanged over the years because no government has had the courage to change it. However, if it were up to him, the name would be changed as soon as possible.

In his opinion, Kwame Nkrumah, who did the hard work, deserves the recognition, not a coup plotter who did nothing to establish the airport for the country.

“Kotoka carried out a coup, overthrew Kwame Nkrumah, and named the airport after himself. That is not right. Kwame Nkrumah did all the work, and Kotoka came and took the glory after the coup. I believe we need to change that name.

Several governments have come and gone, but none has had the courage to change it. That is why the airport is still called Kotoka. If it were up to me, there should be a name change,” he said in an interview with Radio Gold.
