The Ashaiman District Police Command has demolished structures suspected of serving as criminal hideouts at Fitter-Line in Ashaiman as part of intensified efforts to combat crime and improve public safety ahead of the Christmas festivities.
The operation was conducted in the early hours of Saturday, October 17, 2026, at approximately 6:40 a.m. and was led by the District Commander, DSP Orlando Joseph Adzokpa. A total of 30 police personnel participated in the exercise.
According to the police, the operation targeted locations believed to be used by suspected criminals who allegedly terrorise residents and operate in and around Ashaiman. The demolition was intended to dismantle the structures and disrupt activities that could pose a threat to public safety.
Police said the exercise formed part of measures to strengthen security in the municipality as the Christmas season approaches, a period when increased commercial and social activities can place additional demands on law enforcement.
During the operation, the suspected occupants reportedly fled after noticing the approaching police team. As a result, no arrests were made, although officers proceeded to demolish the structures identified as suspected criminal hideouts.
The exercise ended at approximately 8:40 a.m. without any reported incident, according to the information released by the police.
DSP Adzokpa and his team are expected to continue implementing measures aimed at preventing criminal activities and addressing locations identified as potential security concerns. The command has indicated that similar operations may be carried out as part of its broader crime-prevention strategy.
The demolition comes amid continuing efforts by security agencies to tackle robbery, drug-related activities and other offences in communities across the country. Ashaiman, a densely populated municipality in the Greater Accra Region, has periodically been the focus of police operations intended to address security concerns and reassure residents.
The police have emphasised the importance of creating an environment in which residents can go about their daily activities and conduct legitimate businesses without fear of intimidation or criminal attacks.
Although no suspects were arrested during the Fitter-Line operation, the demolition represents an attempt to remove structures that authorities believe could facilitate criminal activity. The effectiveness of the exercise will depend in part on continued surveillance, intelligence gathering and cooperation between the police and community members.
Residents are encouraged to report suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities and provide information that could assist investigations. Community cooperation can help security agencies identify potential threats and respond before incidents occur.
The Ashaiman District Police Command is expected to sustain its crime-prevention efforts as part of preparations for the festive period, with public safety remaining a priority.
