Asantehene vows to destool chiefs involved in landguard activities

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has issued a stern warning to chiefs under his rule, stating that any involvement in landguard activities would result in destoolment.

Addressing the Asanteman during a sitting at the Manhyia Palace on Friday, July 5, 2024, the renowned monarch emphasized that he would not tolerate any landguard activities on his land.

“Linguists, let my people know that, there are reports of a worrying trend of land guard activities in the Kingdom, let all understand that, I will not countenance such acts.

“I have emphasized on countless occasions that, no chief or traditional leader should involve themselves in these appalling acts, I want my chiefs to understand that, whoever is established to have engaged the services of land guards will have me to contend with.”

Request of Report from Security Agencies

The Asantehene revealed that he has requested reports from security agencies on landguard issues in the region and warned that any chiefs found to be involved will be summoned to the Manhyia Palace to answer for their actions.

He expressed concern that his intelligence suggests landguards are terrorizing some individuals in the Ashanti Region which will not be allowed in the Asante Kingdom.

The Asantehene urged all chiefs to desist from such acts, warning of severe punitive measures for non-compliance.
