The Ghana Police Service has shut down a suspected brothel at Manso Watreso and arrested a Nigerian woman believed to be operating the facility.
The operation was carried out by officers from the Manso Nkwanta Police Command after intelligence was gathered about alleged illegal activities taking place at the premises.
Police identified the suspect as Esther Egbuhama, a 28-year-old Nigerian national. She was reportedly arrested during the raid at a property known locally as Mama Nice Lodge, which authorities suspect was being used as a brothel.
The police said the operation formed part of ongoing efforts to clamp down on criminal activities and improve public safety within the area. Officers reportedly moved in after receiving information suggesting unlawful activities were taking place at the location.
Authorities indicated that several other persons believed to be connected to the operation escaped before officers arrived. Police say efforts are currently underway to trace and arrest the remaining suspects.
Following her arrest, Esther Egbuhama was taken into police custody to assist with investigations and possible prosecution under the laws of Ghana.
The incident has generated public attention, with many residents praising the police for acting on intelligence reports and responding swiftly to concerns within the community.
Law enforcement officials reminded the public that operating a brothel is considered an offence under Ghanaian law and warned that individuals found engaging in such illegal activities could face legal consequences.
Residents in the area have also welcomed the raid, saying unlawful establishments can sometimes contribute to insecurity, public disturbances, and other social problems in communities.
Security experts note that intelligence-led policing remains one of the most effective ways to uncover organised or hidden criminal activities. They say cooperation between residents and law enforcement agencies is vital in helping authorities identify suspicious operations quickly.
The police command reportedly assured the public that similar operations would continue across the district to combat crime and strengthen safety.
Officials also encouraged citizens to continue providing credible and timely information to security agencies, stressing that community support remains essential in maintaining law and order.
Investigations are ongoing to determine whether the facility was linked to any broader criminal activities or whether additional offences may have been committed.
The latest raid highlights the continued efforts of the Ghana Police Service to enforce public order laws and respond to intelligence reports from local communities.
