The Aduana Family in Etwereso and Osenase has strongly denied reports suggesting that it has broken away from the Akyem traditional authority, reaffirming its continued allegiance to the Okyenhene.
According to a report by GhanaWeb, the family has described the claims of a supposed secession or withdrawal from the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council as false and misleading. The clarification comes after speculation circulated in some quarters alleging that the Odau group had distanced itself from the traditional leadership structure.
In response, leading members and elders of the Aduana Family have made it clear that no decision has ever been taken to break away from the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council. They stressed that the family remains fully committed to its established role within the traditional system and continues to operate under the authority of the Okyenhene.
The family further emphasized its respect and loyalty to the Okyenhene, who serves as the paramount traditional ruler of Akyem Abuakwa. They noted that their relationship with the traditional authority remains intact and grounded in long-standing customary ties.
The statement was issued to correct what the family described as misinformation and to prevent any misunderstanding within the traditional area. According to them, the reports suggesting a split do not reflect reality and should be disregarded by the public.
The clarification comes at a time when traditional leadership structures in various parts of Ghana continue to emphasize unity and stability. Chieftaincy institutions play a significant role in maintaining cultural heritage, resolving disputes, and managing communal affairs, making cohesion within such structures particularly important.
The Aduana Family’s statement also highlights the sensitivity surrounding matters of traditional authority, where rumors or misinterpretations can quickly escalate into broader concerns within communities. By addressing the issue directly, the family aims to ensure that no divisions are created or sustained based on inaccurate information.
Community members and observers have welcomed the clarification, noting that unity within traditional councils is essential for peace and development. Some have also called for improved communication between traditional leaders and the public to avoid similar misunderstandings in the future.
The Okyenhene continues to be regarded as a central figure in the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area, overseeing matters of culture, land, and customary governance. The reaffirmation of loyalty by the Aduana Family reinforces the existing structure and confirms their continued participation within the traditional framework.
For now, the Aduana Family maintains that it remains an integral part of the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council and will continue to uphold its responsibilities within the customary system.
