Are you foolish to think building a Cathedral solves Ghana’s problems – Kwesi Pratt asks

Seasoned Journalist and Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper Kwesi Pratt Jnr has described the decision by the government of the Republic to build a National Cathedral in honour of a personal promise made by the President and believes it has the power to turn the country’s woes into a better economy as foolish.

Mr Kwesi Pratt made his comment on Metro TV while analyzing the impact the said Cathedral could make on Ghana.

According to him, the government’s claim that building a Cathedral will make all things better for the country cannot be relied on. He argued that Ghana’s neighboring country Côte d’Ivoire has the biggest Basilica in the world yet they experienced a civil war right after the completion of the project.

“Why are we so foolish to think that, if we repeat what Côte d’Ivoire did our economy is going to be any better? Are we not thinking anymore? What is this?” Kwesi Pratt asked on Metro TV monitored by MyNewsGH.com.

“There is nothing more to say the whole thing doesn’t make sense at all”, he added.

A furious Kwesi Pratt who could not understand the kind of decision the government has made in regard to the building of the Cathedral insisted that there was no justification for the pulling down of houses of judges that were barely used to make the land for the project.

“Do we have to pull down the 18-month-old buildings to be able to build a cathedral?  This whole thing is mind-boggling, this whole thing doesn’t make sense anymore there is no sense in his business. And then we are told that if we build this cathedral we will see wonders”. He bemoaned
