Over 50 persons who were displaced by the Appiate explosion had their lives disrupted, this time by a  rainstorm.

The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) is currently working to replace all tents destroyed by the rains and ensure the provision of warmers for them.

In an interview with Citi News, the Chairman of the Appiate Reconstruction Implementation Team, Benito Owusu-Bio, indicated that his team will also begin roofing some temporary structures on Wednesday, April 11, 2022.

“The tents we initially set up for them were temporary measures to support them, but we are also aware that the rainy season will soon set in. Thus, since February, we have been working around the clock to provide temporary accommodation for them.”

“Fortunately, a  mining company next door, FGR, has some uncompleted structures earmarked for one of their resettlement programmes. We have spoken to them, and they have agreed to give us the structures for us to complete and use for our temporary resettlement plan. We have about 80 of them, we are currently working on 40 of the buildings. We should be done with the roofing by Wednesday, We will immediately resettle the people when we are done.”
