Leaders and elders of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Abia State chapter, have unequivocally frowned at the purported certification of an unknown individual as the elected State Chairman of APC in Abia State, vowing never it will be allowed to stand.
They rejected in its entirety the attempt by the Secretary of the National Caretaker Executive and Convention Extra-Ordinary Committee of the APC, Senator John Udoudehe and cohorts to gift the party to their suspended friend in Abia state and also noted that the party is not a one man’s business that can be used as a gift.
Rising from a high-powered and well attended leaders meeting, on Saturday, against the recent inauguration of Mr. Kingsley Ononogbu as new Abia chairman of APC by national caretaker chairman of the party, Governor Mai Mala Buni, in Abuja, the Abia APC leaders, appreciated Hon Chief Donatus Enyinnaya Nwankpa, for the services to the party as the state chairman since inception in 2013 and wished him well in his future.
During the enlarged leaders’ meeting, the authentic outgoing Chairman of APC, Abia State, Hon Chief Donatus Nwankpa, transfered and handed over the reigns of leadership of the party in the state to the duly elected State Chairman, Rt Hon Iheanacho Obioma (Chomen).
According to the communique, the other handover formalities would be performed at the State Secretariat soon.
Continuing, The Abia leaders resolved to return the party to the real owners at the grassroots and also agreed to convene mega meeting of the party by the authentic Abia state APC as soon as possible.
The leaders further resolved to close ranks, put their differences, if any aside, for the interest and progress of the All Progressive Congress in the state, and unanimously pledged to contribute financially to enable the party carry on with its activities and Programmes unhindered.
The APC leaders also encouraged all party members and women to contribute their own quits towards the growth of the party, reminding all that one good turn deserves another.
The leaders assured the party faithfuls that the authentic APC in Abia State shall form the delegates to the forthcoming National Convention on the 26th of Feburary, 2022 in Abuja, and also assured that Abia APC will speak with one voice.
The APC leaders further assured all the party members that every legal means would continue to be pursued towards restoring absolute peace and normalcy to the party in Abia state.
The Abia APC leaders who attended meeting in Abuja were; Senator Chris Adighije, Hon Donatus Nwankpa, Hon Iheanacho Obioma, Senator Nkechi Nwaogu, Hon Nnanna Uzor Kalu , Hon Chief Emeka Nwogu (CON), Hon Chief Emeka Atuma, General Jack Okey Nwaogbo, Umeh Kalu (SAN), Hon Sam Onuigbo, Rt. Hon Martins Azubuike and Hon Kc Ugbajah and many host of prominent party leaders from Abia state.
The Senate Chief Whip, Orji Uzor Kalu, the Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Dr Uche Ogah, Dr. Nyerere Anyim among others tendered apologizes over their absence at the leaders’ meeting in Abuja.
The communique by Abia APC leaders, made available to journalists in Umuahia on Sunday, by State Publicity Secretary, Mike Ozoemena, partly read, “It was also agreed that an open letter shall as a matter of urgency be written to the National leader of our great party and President, President Muhammadu Buhari, whose name is being dropped as the backer and sustainer of the charade going on and destabilizing the All Progressives Congress in Abia state.
“The meeting agreed to reach out to all our elected and appointed leaders, especially our No1 leader, His Excellency Sen. Dr Orji Uzor Kalu to ensure there is one house for the party in the state henceforth”.
