Anyinasin: Two die in road crash

At least two persons – a driver and a conductor – have been killed in a fatal road accident at the Akyem Anyinasin Junction stretch of the Accra – Kumasi Highway near Bonsu.

Three others sustained injuries, the police confirm.

The accident occurred Saturday dawn around 5.30am when a Cargo Truck carting mining equipment towards Anyinam direction collided head-on with a Tipper Truck transporting Charcoal to the capital, Accra.

According to Isaac Okyere, Assembly member at Akyem Anyinasin, he organized a local rescue team to the scene shortly after the accident while awaiting emergency responds.

The driver and mate on-board the Kia Truck were trapped dead in their mangled vehicle and had to be extricated by personnel of Fire Service.

He said the driver and other two passengers on-board the Cargo truck have been rushed to the Hospital.

The accident created a gridlock on the road and the police are at the scene to ensure smooth flow of traffic.

Ghana’s roads are becoming relatively deadly as close to 70 persons died on Friday in two separate crashes in Bono East and Central regions.
