Another woman (80) found murdered in Upington

Upington police are investigating the murder of an 80-year-old woman, after a family member found her body in her home in Middelpos, Upington, on Monday.

According to police spokesperson Captain Sergio Kock, there were wounds on her face and neck.

“A manhunt for the suspect/s has been activated. No arrests have been made as yet. Anyone with information can call Detective Warrant Officer Steven Roos on 082 693 7130. The investigation continues,” Kock said.

On 4 November, police made a breakthrough in their investigation into the murder of another retired Upington woman, who was found tied up in her swimming pool on 30 June.

According to police spokesperson Captain Olebogeng Tawana, the Provincial Organised Crime Unit and Upington detectives traced and arrested a man in the Louisvaleweg informal settlement, near Upington, for the murder of Judith Redelinghuys (71).

The man is expected to appear in the Upington Magistrate’s Court soon.
