Ancestors of Gonjaland will punish any person who vote “NO” over referendum for savanna reion – Bawumia

The Vice- President of Ghana, Dr Muhamadu Bawumia has warned that the ancestors of Gonjaland will punish any person who vote “No” on the day of the referendum for the Savanna Region to be carved of the present Northern Region.

Speaking at the 10th Anniversary Durbar to commemorate the enskinment of Buipewura Jinapor (II) at Buipe on Saturday, 8th December, 2018 Vice President urged all the people in the Savanna region catchment area to vote “Yes” to make the creation of the region a reality.

He congratulated Buipewura Jinapor (II) on the 10th anniversary of his enskinment and declared his “admiration for the modernity Buipewura has brought to the chiefdom and the progressive role he is playing in the development of Northern Ghana.

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia used the occasion to disclose to the people of Gonjaland that the Damongo water project and that of Yapei is fully captured in the 2019 budget and hopefully, work will commence soon on the projects. He said the NPP will fulfill each of the promises made prior to their coming into office in 2017.

At a colourful and well organized ceremony, the Spokesperson for the Buipewura, Dr Ahmed Jinapor cataloged the numerous achievements chalked by his father and among them include the establishment of the Jinapor educational fund which has supported brilliant but needy students in the Buipe traditional area. He also menrioned the construction of a 4 unit dormitory block and furnishing it with over 100 beds alongside the donation of 500 bonded books and a borehole he constructed for the Buipe Senior High School.

The Buipewura appealed to the government to work on the Buipe town roads and speed up the construction of the accident emergency center under construction at Buipe.

The Buipewura emphasized on the need for voting “Yes” for the creation of the Savanna region. He urged all the people to vote massively for the creation of the region by voting “Yes”.

Present at the ceremony were Chiefs from Gonjaland and across Ghana, DCE’s from Gonjaland, Government officials and politicians from the various political parties.
