Alleged rapist remanded again

The accused, Vitus Nsore, 24, is scheduled to reappear before the court on March 21, 2025. His plea has not yet been taken.
Police Sergeant Douglas Addae, leading the prosecution, told the court presided over by Charles Owusu Nsiah that the complainant, a 56-year-old farmer, resided in Amoanda with her family and Nsore.
He stated that on February 9, 2025, at around 1:00 a.m., the complainant was asleep in her room when a heavy downpour caused a power outage, plunging the entire community into darkness.
Taking advantage of the blackout, Nsore quietly entered the complainant’s room and violently attacked her.
He subjected her to torture and beatings, covered her mouth with his hand, and forcibly had unprotected sex with her.
According to Sergeant Addae, after Nsore had satisfied himself, he attempted to kill the complainant to keep his actions hidden. He locked her in the room and threatened to return with a knife.
Despite being weak and helpless, the complainant managed to escape through the window and screamed for assistance.
Anthony Kwofie and the complainant’s children came to her aid and searched the area for the accused but could not find him.
Later, Nsore was arrested by the complainant’s children with the help of some concerned citizens of Amoanda. He was handed over to the Huni-Valley Police, where the complainant had earlier reported the matter, leading to his re-arrest and detention.
Sergeant Addae said the accused was subsequently taken to the Western Central Regional Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) for investigation. A medical report form was issued to the complainant for hospital treatment and assessment.
The prosecution stated that the complainant later returned the form, duly endorsed by a medical officer at the Tarkwa Municipal Hospital.
