All you know is drive V8s – Watch Bawumia campaign convoy being booed at Adum

Crowds are a major factor in political campaigning as they are usually seen as a measure of a candidate’s popularity.

Since Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia started his recent campaigns in the Ashanti Region, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) stronghold, videos and photos of his engagement have showed hundreds of thousands turning up to welcome him and engage with his entourage.

Bawumia has so far met with the Asanteman Traditional Council, farmers and other interest groups, artisans at the industrial enclave of Suame and traders at the popular Kejetia market area.

A video has, however, been shared of how Bawumia’s convoy was booed by a small group of young people while it made its way through an area believed to be Adum, in the heartland of the Ashanti Region.

The young men as captured in a video shared on X are seen booing at a Bawumia campaign branded pickup that had about a half dozen people in the bucket.

Further analysis of the video showed that the pickup was part of a convoy of V8s, a police van and a bus, that had been slowed due to crowds in the area. The young people are seen and heard hooting at occupants of cars in the convoy.

“This is all you people know, driving in V8s, shame unto you all, thieves, shame unto you,” some of them are heard saying.

“You have done nothing, move your convoy away, this is all you know. We are wiser, this year we will vote for change, we will change this year,” they added as the convoy slowly passed.

Bawumia is campaigning to succeed his boss President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as president after the 2024 general elections.

His main contender is former President John Dramani Mahama who is making his fourth straight bid for the presidency having won in 2012 and lost in 2016 and 2020 to Akufo-Addo.
