Some irate Al Ittihad supporters threw missiles at an Al Hilal player after he imitated Mohammed Kudus’ famous ‘take a seat’ goal celebration during their King Cup of Champions semi-final match on April 30, 2024.
Saud Abdulhamid scored a late goal to hand Al Hilal a win over their rivals in a 2-1 encounter played at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium.
Saud scored his goal from a fast break, which saw him slot the ball into the net in the 81st minute.
After hitting the net, the Al Hilal player quickly ran to one of the stewards for a chair and sat on it right in front of the opposing fans.
Angered by the goal celebration, some Al Ittihad fans started throwing plastic bottles onto the pitch to register their displeasure at Saud Abdulhamid’s goal celebration.
It would be recalled that on March 14, 2024, Mohammed Kudus first performed his ‘take a seat’ celebration when he scored against Freiburg in West Ham’s Europa League clash.
Kudus paced to one of the stewards, who gladly offered the Ghanaian player his chair to celebrate his goal.
Since then, a number of players and fans alike have imitated goal celebrations across the world.
