Women curse me over GH¢50 gift-Kennedy Agyapong

Memberof Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong has revealed that women in his constituency will rain curses on him should he organize an event and at the end of the day, pay each GH¢50 stipend.

Unlike other areas where this amount is considered a life-changer, he observed that his constituents do not appreciate that as they expect to receive more in such instances.

The maverick politician said he would have been a lawmaker for life in areas where these little amounts changed the lives of women if he hailed from those places wondering why his is different.

“I told Karbo when he told me his story, that here even GH¢50 changes the woman’s life and I said God, why didn’t you bring me here, I would have been a Member of Parliament (MP) for life”, he disclosed while  addressing economic empowerment women group dubbed Ti-Deltaa, in Lawra in the Upper West Region

“In my constituency, an occasion like this if you give a woman GH¢50 she would walk from this ground to her house cursing you for wasting her time standing in the scorching sun like this. But here, I have been made to understand even GH¢50 makes a differences in a woman’s life”, he disclosed.

He urged women who have been supported through the group not to see it as an avenue to cook good meals for their husbands but engage in lucrative businesses that will help them cater for their families.

According to him, this is the only way they can develop themselves economically and fend for their families commending the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, for initiating policies that inure to the benefit of residents.
