Akufo-Addo appoints Pius Hadzide as CEO of National Youth Authority

Pius Hadzide is new CEO of National Youth Authority

Former Deputy Minister for Information, Pius Hadzide, has been given a fresh appointment under the Akufo-Addo administration.

Mr Hadzide moves to head the National Youth Authority as Chief Executive Officer.

Asaaseradio reports that he will replace the former CEO of the Authority, Mr. Sylvester Matthew Tetteh, who is currently serving as Member of Parliament Bortianor-Ngleshie Amanfro Constituency, in Greater Accra Region.

Together with two deputies Pius Hadzide and the leadership of the National Youth Authority will be expected to “advocate, facilitate and ensure the mainstream of youth development issues into national development frameworks, plans and programmes in all sectors, garner relevant stakeholder interest and commitment to provide the youth with opportunities for skills training, employment, and market information and design appropriate collaboration and partnerships to strengthen the link between education and diversified productivity labour markets.”

They are also to “coordinate promotion of youth participation and acquisition of universal ethics in electoral democracy and governance as well as partner and collaborate in reduction of violence and crime among young people,” the report adds.

This will be the third appointment Mr Hadzide is serving under the leadership of President Akufo-Addo, having previously worked in the capacity of deputy minister.

In 2017, he was appointed as Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports but was reassigned as Deputy Minister of Information in November 2018.
