Agradaa appeals 15 years sentence

Former traditional priestess turned evangelist, Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, has filed an appeal against her 15-year jail sentence for fraud handed down by the Accra Circuit Court.
The appeal was filed at the Amasaman High Court on Monday, July 7, 2025, and seeks to overturn the Circuit Court’s ruling.
According to the grounds of appeal, Agradaa’s legal team argues that the trial was flawed in law and the judgment cannot be supported by the evidence on record.
Her lawyer, Richard Asare Baffour, claims the trial court denied Agradaa a fair hearing and alleges that the presiding judge exhibited bias during proceedings. He also described the sentence as harsh and excessive.
The Sentence
Agradaa was convicted on two counts of defrauding by false pretense and sentenced to 15 years on each count, to be served concurrently. She was also fined GH¢300 for charlatanic advertisement.
The conviction relates to a 2022 televised broadcast in which Agradaa promised to distribute GH¢300,000 to the needy during a church service. Instead, she took varying sums of money from congregants without fulfilling her promise.
