AG In Court To Dissolve Ghana FA Today
The Attorney General is heading to court today, Tuesday June 12, 2018 to dissolve the Ghana Football Association (GFA) following an explosive revelation against the football powerhouse.
The president of the FA Kwesi Nyantakyi is currently on a police enquiry bail after being captured on tape receiving $65,000 gift to agree a sponsorship deal with supposed investors in an undercover investigation by celebrated journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
Over 80 referees and football officials were involved in the bribery scandal which has rocked the GFA leading to the resignation and banning of Mr. Nyantakyi.
The Attorney General has triggered the processes to officially liquidate the Ghana FA at the Registrar General’s Department and to place an injunction on the executives to stop functioning as officials of the Association, the Minister of Information Mustapha Hamid confirmed to the media.
The FA has appointed a five-member team lead by a lawyer, Kweku Ayiah, to hold the fort until the issues are ironed out.
Meanwhile, the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ghana Police Service has put the Secretariat of the GFA under lock and key preventing workers from carrying out their duties.
