Senegal’s head coach sacked

Senegal head coach Aliou Cissé has reportedly been sacked as the manager of the 2021 African champions.

Reports by Senegalese news outlet Taggat indicate that the manager is no longer the head coach of the team and has already been informed, with an official announcement pending.

“As announced this morning by Sud Quotidien, Aliou Cissé is no longer the national coach of Senegal,” Taggat stated in their report.

The news outlet further suggested that the manager’s dismissal was due to discontentment over the team’s recent performances, adding that the Senegal Football Federation is considering a local coach as a replacement.

“The FSF was informed of this decision via a confidential letter, motivated by popular pressure and a growing disenchantment between the national team and the public in recent months. According to our information, Aliou Cissé has already been informed of this decision, and the State would favour a Senegalese coach to succeed him.”

Aliou Cissé has been in charge of Senegal since 2015, leading the team to their historic AFCON triumph in 2021.
