Accra High Court Approves Alternative Service Methods for Medikal Lawsuit

Rapper Medikal is set to be served with court documents through alternative means after the Accra High Court approved a request from Alabaster Box, following unsuccessful attempts to use traditional methods.
Alabaster Box, the plaintiff in the case, filed a motion on May 26, 2025, seeking permission from the court to notify Medikal of the lawsuit through other avenues.
According to a court document dated June 12, 2025, and signed by the Registrar of the High Court, it was acknowledged that conventional efforts to serve the Writ of Summons and Statement of Claim had been unsuccessful.
Justice John Bosco Nabarese, presiding over the General Jurisdiction (4) division of the High Court, granted the request. The court approved three specific alternative methods for serving the legal documents to Medikal:
- Notice Board at the High Court: A copy of the Writ of Summons and Statement of Claim will be prominently displayed on the Notice Board located at the Law Court Complex in Accra.
- Social Media: The court has authorized service via Medikal’s verified social media accounts. This includes his Facebook page (Medikal), Instagram account (@amgmedikal), and his X (formerly Twitter) handle (@Medikalbyk).
- Through His Manager: A copy of the legal documents may also be sent via WhatsApp to Medikal’s manager, Kofi Jam.
This decision marks a significant development in the case, as it allows Alabaster Box to proceed with their lawsuit despite the challenges encountered in directly serving the rapper. The use of social media and WhatsApp for official court service highlights the evolving landscape of legal processes in the digital age.
