Accra City Hall reopens for business

The ultra-modern City Hall of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has reopened for public events amid strict adherence to all safety protocols to ensure total safety of staff and events patrons.

According to the Head of Public Relations of the AMA, Gilbert Ankrah, Listening Bureau, facility managers had put in place effective measures to secure the safety of all users of the facility some of which include the provision of handwashing facilities and sanitizers and spacious meeting rooms.

” Handwashing facilities have been provided at the entrance to compel visitors and staff to wash their hands before entering the facility with strict adherence to the Nose Mask, no entry policy. We have a dedicated officer who is mandated to check the body temperature of all entrants, hand sanitizer have also been placed at vantage points within the facility and at all entrances to meeting rooms to ensure frequent sanitizing of hands. We also have educational materials on COVID- 19 preventive protocols pasted on doors and walls to constantly remind staff and users of the facility to adhere accordingly. On issues of social distancing, our meeting and conference rooms are very spacious to accommodate sizable occupants,” he said.

“On the other hand, the facility managers ensure that the offices and meeting rooms are continuously disinfected and cleaned. We also ensure that details of all persons who patronize the city hall are recorded to aid any form of contact tracing… An isolation room has been set up to single out occupants who may show signs and symptoms of COVID- 19,” he added.

The ultra-modern Accra City Hall which had served as an event centre for conferences, seminars, training, weddings, trade fairs since April 2020, was closed to public events due to the Covid-19 pandemic and government ban on social gathering. Since its launch in 2018, it has hosted over 100 events some of which include Accra Music Expo, Homowo Homecoming Festival, Women’s Expo 2019, Bank of Africa Ghana Shareholders meeting among others.
