A/R: Residents live in fear as snakes invade community after rains

Residents of Atonsu Kuwait in the Asokwa Municipality are living in fear after snakes invaded the community after the recent rains.

Some houses, as a result, have been abandoned by residents due to the invasion, MyNewsGh.com has gathered with others resorted to the burning of used tyres to drive away the reptiles

The residents who spoke to Pure Fm’s Osei Kwadwo believe the snakes are coming from refuse dump site within the Community which has been abandoned by the assembly.

According to them, the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly has failed to fumigate the community after several complaints.

“The situation is so pathetic. The snakes are tormenting our lives. Sometimes sleeping in our houses become a problem. Authorities of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly must do something about it. We normally kill snakes in our rooms” they said.

Assemblyman for Kuwait-Aprabon Electoral area who doubles as Presiding Member for Asokwa Municipal Assembly Bannor Elliott Fosu Jnr expressed worry about the situation.

According to him, the condition of the dumping site in the community is a major health risk to the residents.

“The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly is in charge of the dumping site. The site is generating huge money to the assembly but they are doing nothing about the issue. We have petitioned Ashanti Regional Minister about the issue and we are yet to hear from him” he said.
