Pomaah’s Biography

Boadum Irene Pomaah was born in Kumasi in the Ashanti region to Mr. Augustine Boadum, a business man and Agnes Asantewaa, a headmistress. Her mother was transferred to Nkenkaasu, a town in the Offinso North Municipality sometime later after she was born and that’s where she had her primary and JHS education at the Baanuase Experimental International School.

She continued to Duayaw Nkwanta Girls Senior High School now Serwaa Kesse Girl’s Senior High School from 2003 to 2005 and later joined Kings College, a private SHS in Kumasi. After completion in 2007, she went to Oxford Institute of Acting And Journalism where she pursued a year diploma course in journalism.

Her journey to radio broadcasting started at age 18. She first started as an intern prior to the general elections in 2008 at Adehyie fm in Bibiani in the Western region. After serving as an intern for 6months and doing an extra 6 months probationary period, she was officially employed as a permanent staff but after 3 months into the appointment, she resigned.

She came back to Kumasi and applied for a job as a teacher in a private school where she taught for a year; during this period I had another opportunity to take my juniors in the journalism school through the Akan news reporting because of my past experience.

The young, promising and budding talent never gave up on her avowed desire to become a professional in the world of Broadcast journalism. In 2011 she joined Emak fm in Koforidua as a news caster but returned to Kumasi after a year to continue teaching. Her burning desire for radio compelled her to leave the teaching field again in 2013 to join Classic fm in Techiman, Brong Ahafo region, then to Rainbow Radio International in Accra same year.

She also had a bit of TV experience with channel 5 TV which is still on multi TV and affiliated to rainbow radio. She later joined EIB Network’s Kasapa fm in July 2015 as a news caster and the host of Kasapa Apomuden (a health show on Kasapa fm).

Pomaah Kyekyeku is an unmarried, beautiful and a simple lady who is more of an introvert than an extrovert. Her aspiration is to become one of the finest Radio/TV personalities in Ghana and beyond who would be well acclaimed for her great communication skills.

She draws her inspiration from God and her mother. She is currently reading a Masters Degree course in Development Communication at the Ghana Institute of Journalism and in her words, “combining school with work hasn’t been easy but with God by my side I’ll keep pushing further and with that, I’ll soar higher beyond the clouds.

She aim to impact the lives of others with what she do and to also put smiles on the faces of those who look up to me in my smallest possible way.

“I also believe that a journey of a thousand miles begins with a step so with all I have achieved so far in my field, I think I’m just warming up for greater heights”.
