Tepa Abotuase Reproductive & Child Health Centre now a ‘death trap’
The Tapa Abotuase Reproductive and Child Health Center in the Oti Region where people go for healthcare has now turned into a death trap for residents who patronize it.
The building was established in 1961, without any renovation up to date.
The building has been dedicated as a mother and child centre for residents in and around the Tapa Abotuase enclave with about six health workers.
Nana Kofi Brobbey from EIB Network on a visit witnessed that the facility aside its disrepair nature was also too small to house nursing mothers and other health personnel who visit.
The facility is a single structure with several cracks and part of its roofing and ceiling torn off.
The facility is supported by one shed as the waiting area for nursing mothers which is exposed to direct sunlight.
The health workers are pleading to the government and other coperate bodies to help them fix the facility to enable them give the best of healthcare to residents.
