Some notorious land guards operating in Gbetsile Obeyeyie last Saturday took their criminal activities to the Peniel Prayer Camp in Gbetsile where they had gone to grade some portions of land at the prayer camp.

The land guards who were wielding guns and machetes, fired several rounds of warning shots to disperse the members at the camp who had gone to pray to God for various reasons and intervention.

Children, women, and youth had to flee for safety as they did not have what it takes to confront the land guards.

Narrating the sad ordeal to the media, a family member of the Kojowe Royal family, Ezekiel Amankwah, said ” I was home when he had a call from some of the members at the prayer camp that some land guards in the company of some two gentlemen known as macho and Fatao had come to grade the church land amidst the firing of warning shots. I quickly called my brothers and we had to rush to the scene mad met them grading; but we couldn’t get closer because they were fully armed. We had no choice but to go to the Emef Police station to report the incident.

According to Mr. Amankwah, this is not the first time they are facing such threats from land guards.

He said it has been a very regular thing in the area as several reports made to the police with evidence attached have not yielded any result.

Another family member, Benjamin Nortey also appealed to the police to bring perpetrators to book as they live in fear.

He narrated that the prayer camp has been a property of the Obeyeyie people and headed by Numo Emmanuel Tetteh Amankwah, aka Numo Naanatse who belongs to the Kojowe Royal Clan of Kpone Gbetsile.

He added that their lands are constantly being encroached by the disputed chief of Gbetsile and his assigns and several attempts to stop them have yielded no result

Some of the people from the prayer camp who spoke to the media have vowed never to allow for any development on the church land.

They have thus called on the security to be on the guard to ensure peace prevails in the area.

“The prayer camp land is our land and we will never allow any encroacher to invade it. We shall oppose it with our last breath. They noted.

The 86 year old Head of the Kojowe Royal Clan and a prophet at the prayer camp, Numo Emmanuel Tetteh Amankwah also appealed to the police to intervene to avoid any clash in the area as they will not sit and allow encroachers on the church land.
