Techiman: Absa Bank bullion van robbed GHS638, 000

A bullion van belonging to Absa Bank was on Friday afternoon robbed at gunpoint by 8 unmasked men at Maapehia on the Techiman – Sunyani in the Bono East Region, MyNewsGh.com has confirmed.

The incident happened when one Lance Corporal Yussif Abubakar , a Police officer stationed at Tanoso District Headquarters on board  the bullion van with registration  GT 3181- W  driven by Frank Agyemang age 44 years and  Sampson Kofi Sarfo age 45 years  on special duty was heading from Techiman towards Sunyani at about 3:30pm.

Just on reaching Maapehia eight (8) unmasked men wielded armed with a pump action gun attacked and opened gun fire at them and wounded the driver on his right arm and the Police officer on the left arm.

The robbers robbed them of cash the sum of GHS 638,000, one Tecno mobile phone and one Infinix mobile phone.

According to the police, the robbers also took away an AK 47 service rifle Number AZ 5522 loaded with 19 rounds of ammunition together with Police body armour into the nearby bush and bolted.

The robbery victims were rushed to Holy Family Hospital in Techiman where they were treated and discharged while the bullion van was towed to the station and impounded for investigation.
