A 52-year-old man is in the grips of the Ghana Police for allegedly selling a substance believed to be shea butter as cure for coronavirus.

The man known as King David who was arrested at Awutu Breku in the Awutu Senya West District of the Central region of Ghana told his prospective customers that the cream instantly cures coronavirus when applied to the body.

In an interview with Adom News monitored by mynewsghana.net, some of the customers said that he asked them to apply the shea butter cream on their bodies after eating since it would work faster that way.

One of the customers said, “I bought two of the bottles. He told me to apply it after eating on the ear, inside the nose and all over the body. I wanted to send one to my mother in the village.”

Another victim said that the man told them to stop washing their hands and use the cream rather because the cream does a better job at preventing coronavirus than handwashing.

“He told us to stop washing our hands and use the cream instead. But later, I realized it was just shea butter,” he said.

The Awutu Bereku District Police Commander, Sup. Joshua Semanyo confirmed the arrest saying that they took steps to arrest King David after receiving several complaints from residents.
