GPHA Boss Sacked, Other CEOs To Follow

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre Gifty Klenam and the managing director of the Ghana Ports and Harbours authority are on their way out of office, sources in government have told Starrfmonline.com.

The move is seen as part of efforts by President Akufo-Addo to rid government agencies of what seems to be a cycle of boardroom wrangling between chief executives of state agencies and their boards.

The removal of the GPHA boss Paul Ansah comes in the wake of a standoff between workers of the state company and the board chairman Peter Mac Manu.

Mr. Mac Manu who has been accused of nepotism and self-serving contract-awarding by the staff has threatened to sue if the workers do not retract and apologise for the accusations leveled against him.

The Akufo-Addo government is afflicted with persistent clashes between CEOs and board members. Last month, CEO of the Ghana Cylinder Manufacturing Company Frances Essiam was engaged in an open spat with her board, accusing them of witch-hunting.

“For all the things that he [board chairman] said, I will take the appropriate means administratively, legally to seek redress and repair my image.

“The law will take its course…and trust me the law will take its course because I am talking as a woman whose reputation is being wounded,” she told Starr News

A decision by the board to have her step aside was reversed by the head of State Enterprise Commission Stephen Asamoah Boateng.
