‘Following me around will not win us 2020’ – Mahama

Flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has charged members of the party to work together for victory in this year’s presidential and parliamentary elections.

He said the party members must work hard to rescue “our drowning country” from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Mr. Mahama said an important step into victory 2020 is the aggressiveness and dedication that “we attach at the grounds levels of the party”.

He made the call at the party’s launch of its digital fundraising campaign platform.

He said the party can only win the elections from the constituencies and branch levels by not by sitting in Accra.

”It is no use following me the flagbearer around, that is not what will win us the elections. What will win us the election is the work that we do in the constituencies and our branches. And so, I ask everybody to go to his constituency and their branches; not once or twice but go consistently with the executives and support them morally and materially to win the elections at that level.”

The NDC he said will win the elections hands down should they win at the various levels.

The digital campaign is aimed at getting members to help finance the party ahead of the December polls.

Members of the party, are required to download a special application on play store on their mobile phones to enable them to contribute towards the party’s campaign.

As part of the initiative, members of the party are also required to adopt and contribute funds through their respective branches to ease the financial burden of organising a national campaign on national executives and flagbearer.
