DNA test results on Takoradi Girls: We can’t give any timelines now – Police
The Ghana Police Service has said that they cannot give any further timelines on the publication of the Medical test on DNA samples of kidnapped Takoradi girls after exhausting the four-week period timeline.
According to an earlier police statement dated 5th August 2019, the service estimated a four-week period for the test.
The statement also indicated that, the police would cover all other angles of investigations as the search for the kidnapped girls continues.
The families of the four kidnapped girls provided DNA samples for the test after a series of objections and protest.
But a month and five days into the earlier timeline given, the Police through its Director of Public Affairs, ACP David Eklu in an exclusive interview with Mypurefmonline.com indicated that, there is no update on the Medical test and cannot give any timelines as to when the DNA test results will be published.
“There is no update. You will know when there is an update. I cannot give any timelines as to when the results will be published.” ACP David Eklu said.
The three kidnapped Takoradi girls (Ruthlove Quayson, Priscilla Mantebea Koranchie and Priscilla Blessing Bentum) have been the subject of a sustained media and citizen campaign after they got missing almost a year and half ago.
The DNA test became crucial after human parts believed to be the victims were found near the residence of one of the accused suspected kidnappers Samuel Odoetuk Wills, 28.
Two of the suspected kidnappers are currently in police custody in Ghana while the fourth suspect who was arrested in Nigeria is still awaiting extradition.
