Blay’s 275 buses for NPP arrive
The 275 buses promised by acting National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Freddie Blay, have arrived in the country.
Mr Blay, who is seeking the mandate of delegates of the party to be the substantive chairman in the primaries scheduled for Koforidua in the Eastern region over the weekend had promised buses for each constituency across the country to be managed by the Intercity STC Coaches Limited.
Richard Nyamah, Spokesperson for Mr Blay, told the press that the gesture is to help the party to raise internally generated funds.
He made this known at the Tema Port after taking delivery of the buses.
The Toyota Hiace 2.5L Diesel High Roof buses is estimated at $11, 412, 500 in total.
Mr Blay had said previously that the party cannot continue to depend on voluntary donations.
He explained on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme that: “I am supplying buses to all the constituency branches of the NPP. Each constituency will receive a bus from me personally for commercial purposes just to raise money for party activities”.
When asked how he will finance the procurement of the buses, he said: “When you are resourceful, you will be able to do that. You don’t need to do that from your own pocket, no, you can’t do it that way; as a politician, you need to be resourceful and be able to raise funds for activities of such kind.”
