Koforidua: Police foils attack on Shrine over ‘killing’ of KG pupil
Koforidua -Adweso Police foils attack on shrine over claims of killing KG Pupil for rituals.
The District Police Command at Koforidua-Adweso has foiled a possible attack on a shrine by incensed residents of Okorase over a false alarm that a festish Priest has abducted and allegedly killed a Kindergarten School girl who had closed from school.
Starr News has gathered that a resident who claimed to have seen the incident raised the false alarm the girl was taken to the Shrine near the Okorase Chief’s Palace and allegedly killed for rituals .
The swift intervention by Police acting upon intelligence of raging anger of the people stormed the shrine for thorough investigation.
According to the Police investigators, they met a group of about 55 people drumming and dancing in a traditional worship to their gods.
The owner of the shrine, Lawson Kwao, 45 told Police the allegation was false and that he was celebrating a festival for his gods hence slaughtered five sheep, four dogs and a fowl as sacrifice.
The Police Personnel, however, went a step further to conduct a search in rooms and all corners of the house accomodating the shrine but say ” no body or body parts of a human being was found to have been kidnapped or killed” however sample of the blood found in a bowl at the shrine was taken by police for investigations”.
Police therefore communicated same to the community members urging them to remain calm as further investigations are being conducted though preliminary investigation has been “found to have been untrue up to this point”
For now Starr News cannot establish if any pupil has gone missing in the community.
The incident comes few days after the Ashanti Regional Police investigated and rubbished claims that the Chief of Hemang in Ashanti Region-Nana Appau Ababio Sawansa had killed a human being to pacify his gods after a video containing the allegations went viral.
The Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command, DSP Ebenezer Tetteh who confirmed the incident to Starr News advised residents to be circumspect on such sensitive matters.
