ELECTION 2020: Haruna Iddrisu goes unopposed in NDC Primary

Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu will not face any competition in the forthcoming National Democratic Congress (NDC) constituency primary as it emerged, he is the only person to have picked his form in the Tamale South Constituency.

This will be the fourth time the Former Communication Minister is contesting the seat unopposed as records show same occurrence in 2004, 2008, 2012 and now 2020.

At the close of nominations for parliamentary candidates, the Tamale South lawmaker was the only person who picked the forms to contest again in the 2020 general elections on the ticket of the NDC.

In January this year, Haruna Iddrisu warned those who were clamouring for his seat within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and even the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) that they should be ready for a humiliating defeat should they dare pursue such an agenda.

He stated that he would not ask them not contest him as long as he is a consummate democrat but just reminded them that they will suffer defeat in his hands irrespective of what they do.

Announcing his decision to seek reelection as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Tamale South Constituency in 2020, he said “I am sure any candidate within the NDC and without the NDC into New Patriotic Party (NPP) can only await a humiliating awaiting defeat if they dare want to run with me”

Continuing he said,” naturally, I am a consummate democrat we are open to competition…so this should bring to rest the speculation of Haruna’s political future”.
