According to the section 141(2b) of the Local Governance Act, 2016, Act 936 “Revenue from levies and fees charged in respect of the activities listed in the Eleventh Schedule shall be collected exclusively by or for the District Assembly”.

According to Ohemeng Moore, the two assemblies have been warned by the Ashanti Regional Minister Simon Osei Mensah not to collect toll from the traders till further notice.

He said “the Suame MCE Hon Bobie Ansah has failed to obey the orders of the Ashanti Regional Minister and still collecting tolls from traders at the Kropo Market and other areas which belong to Bantam Sub Metro”.

“We are here at the Kropo Market to stop Suame Municipal Assembly from collecting tolls from the Kropo traders. Kropo Market falls under the jurisdiction of Bantama Sub Metro. Since the Suame MCE has made up his mind not to obey the orders of the Ashanti Regional Minister then we have to use force to stop him,” he warned.

Pure FM’s Osei Kwadwo reported that both Suame Municipal Assembly and Bantama Sub Metro task forces stormed the Kropo market today, the Bantama Sub Metro task force prevented Suame Municipal Assembly taskforce from collecting tolls from the traders.
