Private legal practitioner, Capt Rtd. Nkrabea Effah-Dartey says NDC’s National Chairman, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo could have handled his issues with the police more maturely than what recently panned out.
According to him, lawyers of the NDC Chairman are misleading him [Ofosu Ampofo] to ‘danger’ as “his lawyers are not advising him well.”
Speaking on NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’, Nkrabea Effah-Dartey said “Ofosu Ampofo is a very respectable man in Ghana, with just a phone call, he can manage issues with the police without making it public.”
Samuel Ofosu Ampofo was released from police custody after being detained for about five hours.
He is to report back to the police on Thursday, June 13.
The NDC Chairman’s electronic gadgets according to report were confiscated by police.
Mr. Ofosu Ampofo turned himself into police custody earlier on Tuesday after a warrant was issued for his arrest.
His home was also searched by police but it is yet unclear why the warrant was issued for his arrest.
He is currently on trial for allegedly inciting some of his party’s supporters towards violent acts in apparent response to the violence during the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election.
He was heard on a leaked recording allegedly sanctioning verbal attacks on some public officers like the Electoral Commission (EC) Chairperson and the National Peace Council Chairperson.
