Parliament has confirmed that the Member of Parliament for Madina Constituency, Hon. Dr Francis-Xavier Sosu, is in stable condition after taking ill while delivering a presentation at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).
The incident occurred on Thursday, September 24, 2026, and a video showing the lawmaker becoming unwell during the presentation has since circulated on social media.
In a press release issued by the Parliamentary Service, Parliament said Sosu received immediate assistance at the event before being transferred to a medical facility for further medical attention.
Parliament said the Madina MP is currently under the care of his medical team and is in stable condition.
“Parliament is pleased to confirm that Hon. Sosu is in stable condition and is under the care of his medical team,” the statement issued by David Sebastian Damoah, Director of Media Relations, said.
The statement also expressed appreciation to the management and staff of GIMPA, medical personnel who attended to the MP and all individuals who responded promptly when the incident occurred.
Parliament further thanked members of the public for the prayers, goodwill messages and concern expressed following news of the incident.
The development had generated concern after footage from the event appeared on social media, prompting questions about the lawmaker’s condition.
However, Parliament has urged the public and media organisations to avoid sharing the video of the incident, citing respect for Sosu and his family.
The institution also appealed to the public to refrain from speculating about the cause of the incident or the MP’s medical condition.
“Respect the privacy of the family during this period,” Parliament said.
The call comes amid the rapid circulation of information on social media, where unverified claims about public figures’ health can spread quickly following incidents of this nature.
Parliament said any additional information concerning the MP’s condition would be communicated through its official channels when appropriate.
The statement did not disclose the specific cause of Sosu’s condition or provide details about the medical facility where he is receiving treatment.
