STOLEN items EXPOSES policeman in 9-man gang armed robbery

A uniformed policeman who led a nine-member gang armed robbery at new Bortiano, a suburb of the Greater Accra Region has been arrested by the police after the stolen items including the watch and spectacles were found with his accomplice.

Lance Corporal David Bright Mensah of the Form Police Unit (FPU) in Accra with service number 50737 is reported to have led the robbery operation fully dressed in police uniform at Adanseman New Bortiano.

According to the police, the complainan arrested and brought to the Weija Police station one Emmanuel Tetteh an “okada’ rider together with one gold wrist watch and a spectacle which they identified as some of the stolen items.

In their statement, they claimed a fully dressed policeman in the company of Emmanuel Tetteh and  eight other men attacked them in  their three-bedroom house,  ransacked their rooms and took away 4 HP laptop computers valued GH¢5600.

They added that, three wrist watches valued GH¢ 2,250, one gold chain valued GH¢ 2,400, one Nokia phone valued GH¢ 600, one spectacle valued GH¢ 50 and cash the sum of GH¢ 5, 000.00 cash was taken away from them.

Lance Corporal David Bright Mensah and his gang had accused the complainants of dealing in narcotic drugs but after the suspects left with the booty the complainant and his brothers combed the area and spotted suspect Emmanuel Tetteh at Bortianor junction with one of the wrist watches and the spectacle.

With the assistance of a police patrol team, the suspect was arrested and gave hint of who is policeman accomplice was leading to the arrest of Lance Corporal David Bright Mensah.

Police found in his possession the four HP laptops and accessories, four brown wrappers of substance suspected to be Indian hemp.

The policeman and his accomplice are in custody and would be arraigned before court soon according to police investigators who confirmed the incident to MyNewsGh.com.
