President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will today May 16, 2019 begin his 4-day tour of North East region starting from Walewale in the West Mamprusi District, hometown of Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
The President is expected as part of the tour hold a durbar of Chiefs and people of Nalerigu at Nayiri Naa Bohugu Abdulai Mahami Sheriga’s palace in Nalerigu.
Whilst there, he will inspect a water project, and visit the proposed site for the Regional Coordinating Council at Nalerigu in the Nalerigu/Gambaga constituency.
A brief stop at Sakogu will see the President commission a Community Day SHS, and proceed to interact with tutors and students of Nakpanduri SHS where he will also commission a 120-bed capacity dormitory, followed by a sod cutting for the construction of town roads in Bunkpurugu and a durbar with the Chiefs and people of Chereponi.
North East Regional Secretary, Lawyer Sulley Sambian disclosed to MyNewsGh.com that the President’s tour will be an opportune time for residents to show appreciation to him for creating the region for them.
According to him, they have hope in the President that he is a promise keeper and will ensure that he takes the region to the Promised Land calling on all well-meaning residents of the area to ignore the needless propaganda being embarked on by the opposition National democratic Congress (NDC).
He said posterity will never remember residents kindly if they made the calamitous mistake of bringing back the NDC reminding them of the oil discovery in 2007 and the fact that NDC could not manage this very well to the extent that Ghana had to be taken to IMF when the economy was close to getting on its knees.
“It would be a disaster if we consider bringing back the NDC considering the kind of corruption we witnessed under the Mahama administration. Let us develop the country beyond aid as trumpeted by President Nana Akufo-Addo”, he advised.
