A communication member of the ruling new patriotic party (NPP), Mr. Oliver Ofori Baah, has disclosed that the power outages aka ‘dumsor’, under the erstwhile Mahama administration led to the death of his brother’s wife when she was in labor in the Eastern Region.

He explained that during 2015, the supply of power was erratic to the extent that hospitals were without power, and while doctors surgically operated on his brother’s wife the light went off.

This led to the unfortunate incident for which the hospital later apologized but it had already happened.

His comment comes aback the recent power outage being experienced in some parts of the country, which he said the Ministry of Energy has officially apologized to Ghanaians and explaining that the total shutdown of the Atuabo Plant, was to make way for Ghana Gas to interconnect it system with the West African Gas pipeline Company (WAPCO).

According to Mr. Oliver, Ghanaians must give the management the 12 working days to see what will happen.

We can’t compare the work of the current NPP’s work to the NDC era where Ghanaians were not informed about the power rationing.

What we were told was to go to hell anytime we complained, he added.

“This is not dumsor if not for propaganda perpetuated by NDC, after the 12 working days we won’t experience such power cut in the country again, ” he posited.

The communication said Ghanaians will not repeat the mistake they did in the past by replacing the NDC with the NPP, a situation that brought untold hardship and serious energy crisis.

He stated emphatically “NDC is not an alternative to the NPP even if NPP is not good.

He said during Kufour’s regime, the economy was stable to the extent that banks were after us everywhere to take loans. Ghanaians said let’s give the NDC another chance to see what they can do but that was the beginning of the fall of the Ghanaian economy.”
