Three people have died after being shot at in their vehicle in Verulam, KwaZulu-Natal, on Sunday.
Police said the three were travelling on Russom Street around 11:00 when they were allegedly shot at from a passing vehicle.
Reaction Unit South Africa said its officers were dispatched to the scene and upon arrival found a VW Golf 7 stationary in the middle of the road.
They reported that witnesses allegedly saw a blue Toyota Corolla driving up to the VW and firing a volley of shots before speeding off.
Colonel Thembeka Mbele said the driver died at the scene and the other two men died in hospital on arrival.
She said police would be opening a docket for three counts of murder at Verulam police station for investigation.
