The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Odumase–Krobo in the Eastern Region, Simon Kwaku Tetteh, has rubbished claims by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) that he is taking credit for projects the previous government undertook.

In a statement signed by their chairman – David Walter Yao – the NDC Lower Manya Krobo Constituency members had said that some projects mentioned by the MCE during the 62nd Independence Anniversary celebration were executed by the NDC government but the NPP was taking credit for them.
They mentioned projects executed by the past NDC administration as the Agormanya Islamic School, Yokwenor Primary School, Odumase Anglican School, Odumase Police Station, boreholes, expansion of electricity, Nursing Training School block at Odumase, among other projects.
However, the MCE, during a presentation of some items to people living with disability in his area, hit back accusing the NDC of acting in bad faith, saying the NPP did not take credit for projects initiated by the NDC. “Unlike the NDC, we have been able to complete what they left behind and we have not taken credit for it as they are claiming,” he added.
According to the MCE, when he took over, he saw some uncompleted as well as abandoned projects. However, he was able to lead the assembly to complete all of them.
He indicated that contracts for all ongoing projects had been awarded in his tenure and the NDC cannot lay claim to any of them.
For instance, he disclosed that the construction of Odumase Anglican JHS block started in November 2017 and completed in March 2019. Besides, the Yokwenor 5-unit classroom block started in August 2018 and completed in January 2019.
He also said that the Ketem Primary School, Oborpah and Yonguase had been executed by Pencil of Promise (for-purpose organization) in collaboration with the MP and it is not an NDC project.
The MCE also said that Agormanya Islamic JHS which was abandoned in 2010; the Nursing Training College building which was awarded in 2016 (but not a single block was laid) and the Odumase Police Post which was also awarded and abandoned in 2016, were all completed commissioned during the NPP’s time.
