Members of a ‘militia’ group alleged to be aligned with the ruling party stationed at the Osu Castle in Accra, De-Eye Group claim, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Commander-In-Chief of Ghana Armed Forces was unaware of their ‘illegal’ activities, MyNewsGh.com reports.

According to the Secretary of militant group, Tracy Asamoah, President Akufo-Addo knows nothing about their activities even though their boss is a former bodyguard to then-candidate Akufo-Addo.

According to her, but for the name of “their father” President Nana Addo in the documentary, they loved the free hype they have gotten following the Joy News exposé done by award-wining journalist, Manasseh Azure Awuni

The Secretary replied Manasseh Azure Awuni on his explosive documentary which aired on Joy News about their activities.

“The President is not aware of our activities and that is it. But for the fact the journalist drew his name inside, we were enjoying a free hype and I am sure it would have given us more clients”, she revealed.

Tracy Boakye had earlier on an Accra-based radio station, commended the journalist for offering them free advertisers announcement she said would inure to their benefit.

Meanwhile, the government has described the investigative piece as one that falls short of the journalism standards and it only puts together conjuncture, malice, mischief, sensationalism and invalidated suspicions, presented to the Ghanaian people as truth.

It further noted that the said ‘De-Eye’ group is a recruitment agency that is involved in helping unemployed young men and women find jobs, and operates a website that openly states their objectives. “The Osu Castle is not a security zone, neither is it an annex of the Presidency. It is a facility operated by the Ghana Museums and the castle gardens is opened to the public.”

Although they admit that the agency succeeded in using the garden grounds for their activities, they were quickly dealt with in October 2018 by a joint operation involving personnel of the National Security and the Police.
