CAF Confederation Cup: We’ll improve upon our defense- Akakpo Patron

Deputy Coach of Asante Kotoko Akakpo Patron says his side will keep working on their defense so they don’t concede more goals in their upcoming matches in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Kotoko have conceded two goals in the ongoing competition against Al Hilal in the opening game which they lost and against ZESCO United on match day two.

They sit 3rd on the league log with three points, same points as their opponents but with inferior goal difference after matchday two of the competition.

The rate at which the Porcupine Warriors keep leaking goals at home and away in their matches has raised concerns on the defense set-up of the team.

But Patron insists the technical team are working to ensure the problem is curtailed in their subsequent matches.

“We keep working on our defense because we don’t want to concede but sometimes the opponents are good so we must give credit to them but we will keep working on our defense to improve,” he told Happy FM.

“We are working on the defense to keep them focus till the final whistle of every game”, he added.

The former Assistant coach of West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) also hailed goalkeeper Felix Annan for his heroics on the day which ensured Asante Kotoko picked their first victory in the competition.

“Felix Annan was marvelous He kept us in the game. He was so fantastic. He made great saves to keep the hope and dream alive.”

Kotoko will take on Zambian side Nkana FC on 24 February, 2019 in matchday three of the competition.
