Contrary to the fears that plans are being advanced to rename the Ho Technical University after the late Dr. Ephraim Amu, Registrar for the institution and secretary to the institution’s Governing Council, Dr. Christopher Amehoe says they are doing no such thing.
According to Dr. Amehoe, the renaming process had been put on hold following the agitation of the chiefs.
He said both parties are making efforts to come to a consensus on the matter.
“There are no fresh moves to change the name of the institution that I am aware of…We have sought to meet with the chiefs for some time now but we are both not finding a suitable time to meet over the matter and that’s why that meeting is still pending. But the chiefs are our fathers with whom we have enjoyed a very cordial relationship so if anything raises its ugly head, we’ll just have to meet with our fathers and settle it,” Dr. Amehoe told Citi News.
The Asogli Traditional Council on Monday in a press Conference addressed by Togbe Adzi Lakle Howusu the warlord of the Asogli state indicated that they had picked intelligence that the governing council of the Ho Technical University was making fresh moves to change the name of the institution to Dr. Ephraim Amu Technical University despite their disagreement.
The chiefs warned that any move to change the name of the institution without their consent will be met with stiff resistance.
